Oh Hyeon-gyu and Yang Hyn-jun have been named in South Korea’s squad for the Asian Cup.

With the group matches running from January 15 to 25 the Celtic duo won’t be back in Scotland until the trip to Aberdeen on February 4 at the earliest, ruling them out of the Scottish Cup tie at home to Buckie Thistle followed by the SPFL clash with Ross County on January 27.

South Korea have been drawn alongside Bahrain, Jordan and Malaysia in Group E which should provide a fairly straight forward passage for Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad to progress into the knock out stage of the competition.

Sixteen of the 24 competing nations will go through to the knock-out stage with the final being held on February 10.

The loss of Oh and Yang depletes the options open to Brendan Rodgers with news awaited on the Japan squad. Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi seem certain to be included with Reo Hatate a candidate despite being out injured since the end of October.

Marco Tilio has been included in the 26 man Australian squad with players from Hearts, Hibs and St Mirren also involved with Graham Arnold’s squad.
