Despite only starting five matches during his loan spell at Celtic, Nat Phillips appears to have made a big impression on his temporary team-mates.
Faced with an injury crisis at the end of August Brendan Rodgers turned to Anfield for reinforcements with Phillips drafted in while Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh were in the treatment room.
On the pitch the loan deal was hardly a success but on December 9 Brendan Rodgers praised the attitude and commitment of the loan defender:
He came in on a short-term loan to help us in an emergency period and he’s been fantastic since he’s come in, his whole demeanour and behaviour around the place. He was injured when he first came in and the guys that have played have done really well.
Alistair Johnston seems in agreement with that comment, giving Phillips a full strip tribute on his return to Anfield.
After six years at Anfield, all under Jurgen Klopp, Phillips will have plenty of stories to share about the workings of the legendary German manager.
Another loan spell is expected for Phillips, no doubt Johnston and others at Celtic will be cheering him on from a distance.

Sorry, but I just don’t get it. He may well be a lovely fella and all that but……..he was signed (on loan) to cover injuries whilst he himself was injured.
Just what TF is that all about? And, TBH, he played little and he’s not the greatest player I’ve ever seen so WTF?
This is Celtic FC, former European Champions and multiple trophy winners, best club EVER in Scotia, arguably the best supporters on the planet……hardly a fukkin charity!
And he scored at the wrong end in his last game…….get a grip!
