Anthony Joseph’s update as he names three positions Celtic are looking to strengthen

Transfer

After taking 16 days to sign another winger Anthony Joseph has named three positions that Celtic are looking to strengthen before the transfer window closes.

A striker and left-back are reported to be the priority positions but more than halfway through the transfer window it seems that loan deals could be more likely than getting permanent moves through.

The signing of Kuhn puts a major question mark over recruitment with Marco Tilio, Luis Palma and Yang Hyun-jun all signed on long term deals during the summer.

Two of those wingers are on duty at the Asian Cup which opens the door to Kuhn to push his claims in the home matches against Buckie Thistle and Ross County.

Greg Taylor and Kyogo Furuhashi are the first choice selections at left-back and striker but behind them options are light, especially at the back where Alexandro Bernabei has yet to start a match and was left out of the Champions League squad.

Finding a quality striker to play back-up to Kyogo won’t be easy, signing someone that could outperform the former Vissel Kobe striker could involve a fee pushing towards £10m with the £9m paid for Odsonne Edouard in the summer of 2018 the highest fee ever paid by Celtic.
