A report in the Daily Mail has named Celtic as being interested in signing Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool.

The Irish internationalist is a well established deputy to Alisson at Anfield but at the age of 25 the time is coming to nail down regular first team football.

With Joe Hart out of contract at the end of this season the goalkeeper position will have to be addressed soon by Celtic with very little discussion about a new deal for the former England keeper who will turn 37 in April.

At a stretch Celtic could possibly offer Kelleher agreeable personal terms but it is hard to see how they could outbid the transfer fee likely to be put forward by EPL clubs with Brentford, Wolves and Brighton named as already showing interest in the Anfield keeper.

Pulling the situation together, the Daily Mail reports:

Celtic are one of many clubs interested in a summer move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, according to sources in Scotland, though it is likely the Reds would not sell the Irishman for anything but a fair transfer fee if he made the decision to leave.

The Irishman, who has played 11 matches for the Reds this season, has been touted as a potential replacement for former England No 1 Joe Hart at Celtic Park, with the 36-year-old’s contract up at the end of this season.

Celtic, though, are likely to be challenged for Kelleher’s signature if he did decide to leave this summer – which is a decision he has not yet made – and three Premier League clubs have also watched the goalkeeper this season. Brentford, Brighton and Wolves showed an interest last summer.

Scott Bain and Ben Siegrist are also at Celtic but neither has been able to pressurise Hart with the former Dundee United keeper still to make a league appearance since his arrival as a free agent in the summer of 2022.
