Stephen McGowan has claimed that Celtic are looking to sign a forward and a left-back before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

The Daily Mail reporter has a strong track record on Celtic transfer business but is unable to put forward any names other than to suggest that the players will come in on loan from English clubs.

After four weeks of transfer activity this month Celtic have only added Nicolas Kuhn to their squad despite the December appeals of the manager for increased quality.

It looks like business will be concentrated into the final hours of the transfer window, tonight in the Daily Mail McGowan writes:

Manager Brendan Rodgers is   still looking for a left full-back   and a forward, with loans from England the most likely marketplace.

Midfielder Rocco Vata remains in talks with Celtic over a new four-year contract.

A report on Monday night claimed that the 18-year-old, son of former Parkhead defender Rudi, had rejected the offer. But negotiations are still continuing, with both sides keen to reach an agreement.

Realistically Celtic only have one left-back and striker available, with Greg Taylor injured and Japan and South Korea in the knock-out stage of the Asian Cup it looks like options will be very limited for the coming matches at Aberdeen, Hibs and St Mirren.

Sydney van Hooijdonk has been linked with a loan deal from Bologna but other than that there is a distinct shortage of names being linked with a move to Celtic.

I hope and pray that a striker and lest back come in this January transfer window if can’t get both then we sign a striker but if no one comes in then it’s going to be hard to win scottish cup and the league this is not what we were told the board have lied to us and Brendan. Lawwell and son don’t know what they are doing should be nicholson getting the players in and keep Peter lawell away from team transfer of players coming in
