Late on Tuesday night the Sun published details of Ibrox interest in Michy Batshuayi.
The one time Chelsea substitute finds himself back in that position with Fenerbahce who are looking to offload him alongside summer signing Ryan Kent.
With a Belgian manager in charge at Ibrox and Batshuayi needing playing time to push his claims for a place in the European Championship squad of Domenico Tedesco.
According to Belgian transfer expert the striker is on a 3.5m euros a year deal in Turkey which converts to around £250,000 per month.
Even John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe are only being paid around half that figure but as the Aaron Ramsey deal proved two years ago the Ibrox board will throw almost anything at trying to stop Celtic.
??? Lot of interest regarding Michy Batshuayi this summer… Player has been proposed to #RangersFC who
put the player on a list but there’s yet no concrete intention to proceed as his wages are very high for a Scottish club. The Belgian striker earns 3,5M€ per year at… https://t.co/4eeqrEbecv pic.twitter.com/ImUcrnpugF— Sacha Tavolieri (@sachatavolieri) January 10, 2024
It was only in the final two days of the 2022 January window that the Ramsey deal fell into place, EPL clubs weren’t prepared to pay out for an injury prone midfielder looking for match practise between international matches.
Everton have been linked with Batshuayi but if that falls through there is a chance that he could end up being part of the Clement Revolution.
Ridvan Yilmaz and Sam Lammers are reported to be interesting other clubs but neither is likely to bring in a transfer fee with clubs aware of the need at Ibrox to reduce costs which is mainly driven by the wage bill.
