Transfer expert names two clubs interested in Scott McKenna

Transfer

Alex Crook has claimed that both Glasgow clubs are interested in signing Scott McKenna.

The Scotland defender is out of contract at Nottingham Forest in May which opens up a number of possibilities.

McKenna has recently been frozen out of the Forest side under two different managers with the natural conclusion being that it is related to his contract situation after making 94 league appearances since his move from Aberdeen in September 2020.

Normally the defender could start counting down to a great pay day as a free agent but with Scotland qualifying for the European Championships in the summer he needs to be playing somewhere to be in Steve Clarke’s squad.

Crook is the transfer expert at TalkSPORT with 88,000 Twitter followers, Scottish football isn’t quite his beat which suggests that the McKenna interest is genuine.

It’ll be in the agents interest to drum up interest, a month ago he would have seemed a likely target for Celtic but over that time period Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki have emerged as serious contenders to Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales.

Being trained by a Scottish club is a big attraction of McKenna with both Glasgow clubs struggling to list four SFA trained players in their UEFA squads.
