Celtic finally announced the heavily predicted signing of Adam Idah around 10,30pm last night, an hour before the transfer window closed.

The Norwich City striker signs on loan until the end of the season with no mention made of any option to convert the deal into a permanent move.

Idah’s move has been predicted since Tuesday evening, it came a fortnight after the signing of Nicolas Kuhn which gave the club’s media team plenty of time to roll out the content associated with a new signing.

There was one aspect clearly missing from the club announcement- the endorsement of Brendan Rodgers. In the only Idah story on the Celtic website there wasn’t a single word from the manager who voiced his opinion in November that four quality signings were required when he returned to the club in June.

When Kuhn joined on January 16 Rodgers told the club website:

We are delighted to welcome Nicolas to Celtic. We believe he is a dynamic player who has an excellent level of quality and all the attributes to fit well into our style of play.

He has the profile we are looking for, he has a real attacking intent, a player with great pace and ideas, the ability to create and score goals and a player with a great energy and work ethic.

He is someone who can play wide on both sides so he brings with him that versatility for us too, and myself and the coaches here really look forward to working with him.

The tweet to announce Idah’s signing was met by a wave of criticism towards the Celtic board and in particular Chairman Peter Lawwell. There was sympathy and support for the player caught up in the crossfire.

Rodgers is expected to host a media conference today to preview Saturday’s match at Aberdeen. There are injury concerns over Cameron Carter-Vickers, Matt O’Riley and Reo Hatate but the dominating issue will be the manager’s thoughts on Celtic’s transfer activity.

David Turnbull was sold to Cardiff City yesterday with Mikey Johnston going on loan to West Brom, neither deals are mentioned on the Celtic website.

Ahhhhhh I give up. No ambition here whatsoever. Support taken for mugs once again. Hatate injured CCV injured probably injury prone now. Sell Turnbull fcn mental decision. What happens if McGregor gets injured? No cover. Left back no cover. A feeling of dejavu here.

News: The Snow Monkey loose in the Highlands was on it way to Celtic Park
to accept a loan. The Scouting and Recruiting Section of Celtic FC heard that
the Primate was an aggressive striker. This news was leaked to SMSM.
Rangers found the striker, tranquilized and captured it, to Union Bears rapturous acclaim.

    • KC67 says:

More like the monkey was happy to play for peanuts.

Another classic underwhelming transfer window. By design of course, all in the name of Lawwells beloved Old Firm.

Anybody that wants to hand back their ST should be refunded, they’re being cheated by this corrupt Celtic board hell bent on letting their friends from Ibrox get their hands on the champions league money next year.

      SACK THE BOARD!!!

    • GB says:

The snow monkey has since diverted his travels over to Ibrox, where he is clearly more qualified to manage the finances of the newly formed club. His track record on paying bills and avoiding bankruptcy was of particular interest and to the acclaim of the Union Bears

Fcuk it – And after me sending it down to Celtic it never got there…

Outsmarted by Sevco John (not Rangers – remember they died in 2012) once again !

  • John says:

Once again the Celtic support have been taken for mugs the current set up regards transfers is nothing short of disgraceful It would appear the manager has no say in transfers The current board wants your money but will not invest in adding quality to the team

  • Jack says:

If you look at European leagues there not much if any transfer activity so its all down to Celtic board dermit Desmond trust the board and he has the final say reports him playing golf is just scottish media we have best pool of players up to other spl teams to match it they haven’t and I know they will be disappointed buy only Celtic negatively highlighted most teams Spl have been rolled over by Celtic December was a hiccup but we recovered our main rivals have done nothing in transfer the difference they have no money and we have but only on right player that was unavailable this transfer year the players we have are more than capable to win league and cup that’s why we are odds on for both bookies aren’t blinded by sevco bullish

  • Bradzo says:

Big Ange gave us hope, upper management fixed that.

Lawwell came back after loosing 10-in-a-row, upper management fixed that.

We have money, upper management fixed that.

Embarrassed in Europe, why? Upper management fixed that.

Celtic should be 5 years ahead of all the league, and we are a tip toe in-front, upper management fixed that.

The rest of the league are skint, we have money but won’t strengthen the squad and could lose the Scottish, then Champions league money. Then the current money will sit in the bank for the shareholders, upper management fixed that.

Not a supporter wanted Lawwell back, upper management fixed that.

Fans hopeful, then knowingly totally fed-up after the transfer window, the upper management fixed that too.

    Have I mentioned the Lawwells?

    Well… 1 out of 8 ain’t bad…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Rodgers is mince, as are the directors.
    They all have to go.
