Celtic TV pundit warns board ahead over Balance Sheet success

Peter Grant has warned the Celtic board that supporters aren’t interested in the club’s incredible financial results.

At the end of June 2023 Celtic announced that they had £72m sitting in the bank ahead of another poor Champions League campaign and early exit from the League Cup.

The nature of football income and comparing 23/24 with the 22/23 season a further boost to the bank balance is expected at just the time the hoops have fallen into second place in the SPFL Premiership table.

Normally the interim Accounts are published in the second week in February, going into the fourth week of the month there is still no sign of an announcement from Celtic. On December 10 last year a profit of £32.9m was announced for the first half of the 22/23 season.

Grant was on Go-Radio tonight with the Daily Record reporting the former Celtic midfielder saying:

The bottom line is, the supporters are not interested in what is in the bank. That is fact. There is no getting away from that.

We always want to see results and performances on the pitch. You can have £100million, £200million sitting in the bank but if you are not winning games of football you will never be happy.

As supporters that is the way you look at the game and I’m sure the players and Brendan will be really disappointed by the points tally being overtaken by Rangers. He will be really disappointed by the performances.

I have been disappointed by the performances and that they have not worked the goalkeeper more – that has been a disappointment. The wide players are the same as each other and that’s a concern.

Against Kilmarnock Grant was the studio guest for Celtic TV, on Sunday the hoops could kick off at Motherwell sitting five points behind in the Premiership table.
