I’m really surprised- Sutton on the Fir Park penalty claim that Celtic were denied

Celtic look to have been denied a clear penalty during their 3-1 win over Motherwell today.

The scoreline doesn’t tell the story of the match with substitute Adam Idah equalising in the 50th minute after a nightmare first half from Brendan Rodgers’ side saw them go in trailing 1-0 at the break.

Midway through the second half Celtic really started to pile on the pressure, knowing that dropping any more points would leave them badly toiling in the Premiership title race.

Yang Hyun-jun cut inside, shaped to shoot with Dan Casey raising his left arm to deflect the shot away from goal. Celtic players claimed for a penalty, Collum had a clear view of the incident but waved play on.

Gavin Duncan was on VAR duty with Gary Hilland, Sky Sports suggested that the incident was checked but there was no request for Collum to review it on the monitor.

It took Celtic more than 20 minutes to get in front, in stoppage times Idah and Luis Palma both scored to give the hoops full points and take attention away from a highly contentious VAR non decision.
