Daniel Kelly supplied the icing on the cake as Celtic demolished Dundee 7-1 on a rain lashed night in the east end of Glasgow.

Callum McGregor put Celtic 6-0 in front just before the break then was replaced by Kelly at the break with the teenager only needing 18 minutes to make his mark.

Yang Hyun-jun cut the ball back from the right, it was just out of reach for Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley but Kelly shaped up brilliantly to ping an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 16 yards out.

It was a special moment for the young midfielder who looked perfectly at ease alongside O’Riley and Tomoki Iwata as Celtic dominated the second period without getting the rewards that their play deserved.

Kelly made his top team debut coming off the bench against Buckie Thistle last month with tonight his first taste of SPFL action.

After recent struggles Celtic finally hit form, finding themselves three goals in front in the first half hour thanks to headers from Cameron Carter-Vickers, Adam Idah and Matt O’Riley.

There were further first half goals from Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor and McGregor, with their confidence restored it is now on to Tynecastle on Sunday where an away win would greatly bolster the defence of the SPFL title.
