Alan Muir fails to stop Celtic going top of SPFL Premiership

With refereeing and VAR issues in the news Alan Muir added to the growing catalogue of honest mistakes at today’s Livingston v Celtic match.

Don Robertson was his usual erratic self with some baffling decisions when Celtic built up a chance down the right wing.

When the ball was played into the penalty box Kyogo Furuhashi moved into position only to have his movement halted by Micky Devlin.

The Livingston defender kicked out at Kyogo’s left ankle with his right foot then followed through by kneeing the striker’s thigh.

Robertson had a clear view but didn’t want to know, Muir had plenty of time to review it. While John Beaton will pour over an incident to find the angle he is looking for Muir had his mind made up within 60 seconds with the message being to continue playing. He didn’t even suggest that the match referee should take a look on the pitch-side monitor.

Fortunately Celtic went on to score three times after the break with Muir unable to find fault with any of the goals.

With seven matches left to play Celtic are one point clear and one goal better off in terms of goal difference.

Football is about small margins, Muir did his bit like John Beaton at Tynecastle, today Celtic had enough to overcome the obstacles put in front of them by Crawford Allan’s appointments.

In 2015 Muir was the additional assistant at Hampden watching and ignoring the handball from Josh Meekings to block a netbound header from Leigh Griffiths, Muir’s career has gone from strength to strength.

I could smell the fear from the pieman through my telly.
His snarling belligerent attitude towards the penalty, of which of course if it was dessers he would be screaming for, shows me a man who knows that the team thats showing up next week isn’t the one he was expecting.
A small narrow minded bigot, who hopefully will be eating plenty of humble pie next weekend.

  • Bob (original) says:

In real time, that looked like a penalty.

That last video above shows a kick, a knee – and then a push on Kyogo!

And that’s just a taster for next week.

    Competent my @rse:

Today is ABSOLUTELY the day to shout about it…

Why not get in there early and say that should have been given without doubt today and MUST BE GIVEN at Liebrox next Sunday or else…

But Clement, Penalty Tav, And Barbie Doll & Co. will be in there first thin tomorrow of course setting the narrative !

  • Exiled in Ard Mhaca says:

We will get diddly squat from the match officals at the Bigotdome next week. Tavernier penalty is almost a certainty. Celtic player sent off don’t be surprised. Any Celtic goal pondered over by VAR for an eternity. Glass thrown on to the pitch Joe Hart brought it in his kit bag. So on and so forth ad infinitum.

  • Johnno says:

As much as I was fuming about such a simple decision not given and only managing to show just how corrupt Scottish football remains with the clear agenda in play?

Have to give great credit to our player’s with showing such a strong mentality to overcome such injustices?

This will be required next week no doubt about it?

Still shouldn’t be enough to defeat ourselves, with a far better standard of quality with such a strong mentality in place, to handle the injustices and cheating that the scum depends s hugely upon imo?

  • scousebhoy says:
