Brazilian media silent on Bernabei’s loan move from Celtic

Today is transfer deadline day in Brazil but other than Scottish outlets covering it there is no mention of Alexandro Bernabei joining Sports Club International of Brazil on loan.

On Wednesday afternoon multiple Scottish websites reported on a tweet from Cesar Luis Merlo that a deal was in place, strangely his tweet was based on ‘sources from Scotland’.

As we know all too well in this country every scrap of information on Twitter in the final 48 hours of a transfer window is worked to death. Nothing is too ridiculous to pick up and report on- just in case.

A deal could well be on the cards, Merlo is a very respectable source, he has almost 350,000 Twitter followers with his bio revealing ‘Journalist specialized in the foreign exchange market’.

SC International are big hitters in Brazil, on Twitter they have 1.9m followers, almost double the number that Celtic have but there is nothing overnight on Google about the arrival of Bernabei.

The Brazilian transfer window closes today, if no deal is done the next option for Celtic and Bernabei would be to find a club in the MLS to take him on loan.
