Joe Hart and Josip Juranovic were among the first to wish Liel Abada the best of luck following his move to MLS side Charlotte FC.

The transfer had long been predicted, confirmed by a lengthy statement alongside an Instagram message containing eight video clips of two eventful seasons at Celtic Park.

Abada was the first major signing of Ange Postecoglou in July 2021, scoring the first goal of the new era against Midtjylland.

In that first season he scored in all three domestic competitions plus the Champions League (qualifier) and Europa League (group stage).

Over five days at the end of January and start of February 2022 Abada made his biggest impact as Postecoglou’s side hit the top of the SPFL Premiership table despite losing three of their first six matches.

A last gasp winner for 10 men against Dundee United set the scene for the Glasgow derby with the Israeli winger scoring Celtic’s third goal late in the first half as Celtic took control of their destiny.

With Jota the first choice winger last season Abada had to compete with Daizen Maeda for the other slot, finishing the season with a goal against Inverness Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup FinaL.
