Brendan Rodgers is increasingly discussing outside talk and opinions.

During his broadcast media conference the Celtic boss became very defensive answering unnamed critics of his decision to use Daniel Kelly as a substitute in the defeat away to Hearts.

With nine games left to play two Glasgow Derbies will have a major impact on the season, going into Saturday’s match against St Johnstone Celtic trail by two points but confidence isn’t a problem for the Celtic boss.

The Celtic Way reports Rodgers saying:

It’s all about how you finish the race. This is the point that matters. There was a lot of noise and everything around the beginning of the season for whatever reasons.

But ultimately, it’s part of the season and I will be interested if we win the league and the Scottish Cup what the thoughts are around that.

The source of the pre-season noise is identified, Michael Beale had plenty to say but mainly about himself with nothing notably derogatory about Rodgers, his boss at Liverpool a decade ago.

On April 7 Celtic go to Ibrox, almost certainly without the backing of any supporters, once the outcome of that match is known the likely destination of the SPFL title will be clearer with Celtic hosting the post-split Derby clash.
