Luis Palma is in line for international duty next week despite being an injury doubt for Celtic’s match against St Johnstone on Saturday.

Honduras have matches away to Costa Rica and El Salvador on March 23 and 27 with the Celtic winger named in their squad.

Palma has found himself relegated to the Celtic bench in recent weeks but missed the Scottish Cup tie against Livingston through injury.

Yesterday it was being reported that the former ARIS Salonika winger is doubtful for the match against St Johnstone but even if he has to sit that match out he won’t be staying on at Lennoxtown through the international break.

The Sun reports Honduran General Manager Gerardo Ramos saying:

Luis Palma has a minor injury that has been worked on with the national team doctor in conjunction with the Celtic doctor. We are positive that Luis will be able to be there for this important match against Costa Rica.

Logic tells you that Palma is one of the first on the teamsheet and we hope he is 100 per-cent ready for that game.

He does have a small injury, but it is nothing serious and he can recover in the coming days. We need the best possible squad for our dream of achieving qualification for the Copa America.

Celtic do have an extra day after the international break with the match at Livingston being played on Sunday March 31.

With a trip to Ibrox a week later the international break will be more fraught than usual for Brendan Rodgers as he continues the on-going battle against injuries that have hampered his options since the start of the season.
