Kemar Roofe is tipping Philippe Clement to finally bring the big cup to Ibrox.

For over 60 years both clubs have been on the end of some incredible batterings when they have been up against European teams with non-Scottish referees.

Delusions however have never been a problem, even when Rangers were spanked 12-4 by Eintracht Frankfurt in 1960 with the 2012 Tribute Act becoming the worst team to take part in the Champions League thanks to a memorable campaign under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Roofe was in the squad taken apart by Liverpool, Ajax and Napoli but believes that under Clement they can not only win a group stage point but go all the way and lift the trophy!

Reflecting on the Europa League exit from Benfica the former Leeds striker told The Sun:

We’re disappointed just now about Europe but we’ll recover and redouble our efforts. We have a Treble to go for this season and they could do the Quadruple next season.

I truly believe that’s when you will see the results of his work. Everyone’s learning his style of play and what he wants, and it’s vice-versa with him. Once he gets a few injuries out of the system, then next season the machine should be really firing.

It’s a great club, the fanbase is top. Being in competitions like the Champions League and Europa League is amazing.

So, for me, right now I’m just trying to play as many games as I can, do my best and help us get as many trophies as we can.

Assuming that Roofe helps his side to win their nine remaining SPFL matches they’ll go straight into the draw for next season’s Champions League.

Clubs will no longer drop out of the Champions League into the Europa League which means that next season’s Quadruple will see the big cup return to Glasgow for the first time in almost 60 years.

Roofe is out of contract at the end of this season as is Borna Barisic, John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Leon Balogun and Jon McLaughlin.
