Football Insider is claiming that there could be offers from EPL clubs in the summer for John Lundstram!

Predictably that story was jumped on by BBC Scotland and tops the bill on the gossip page.

Football Insider is renowned for it’s far fetched, speculative tales with experts at dozens of clubs apparently rushing to contact the website with gold-dust stories, this one comes from their infamous ‘sources’.

Three years ago while playing in the EPL for Sheffield United there wasn’t the slightest interest in the Scary Scouser, now after a few years towing a caravan in the SPFL he seems to be in demand.

Rangers have offered John Lundstram a new contract but talks over a new deal have stalled, sources have told Football Insider.

The 30-year-old is set to become a free agent in the summer when his contract expires.

Sources say that Gers are still hopeful that Lundstram will extend his stay at Ibrox but there are fears that he is waiting for potential offers from Premier League clubs.

Lundstram is currently one of the top earners in Philippe Clement’s squad with a wage over £20,000 per week.

That figure can be at least doubled, putting Lundstram in the same wage bracket as Kemar Roofe and Todd Cantwell.

A repeat of the Connor Goldson scenario from 2022 is a possibility- signing a new Ibrox deal after realising that there is zero interest in ageing mediocrity from Scotland, even as a free agent.
