SPFL comply with Ibrox request over Dens Park date

The SPFL has bowed again to orders from Ibrox by rescheduling their postponed fixture with Celtic to Wednesday April 10- three days after the visit from Celtic.

On Sunday the match was the subject of a late postponement followed by the traditional angry statement from Ibrox.

The SPFL had two options when to reschedule the fixture, in all previous circumstances they take the first option available just in case anything happens and they have a fall-back, a Plan B.

That would have scheduled the match for Wednesday April 3 but ensuring that Philippe Clement’s side get a clear run at the match against Celtic this afternoon the SPFL announced.

Had the match been scheduled as expected it would have resulted in matches against Hibs on March 30, Dundee on April 3 and Celtic on April 7, instead the sting has been taken out of that run.

The next big decision is for the SFA as they announce the match referee and VAR, John Beaton was expected to be put in charge but his position is in jeopardy with Brendan Rodgers facing a Notice of Complaint against the man from the Crown Bar 10 days before the Glasgow Derby.
