Utterly painful- even Spiers calls out Nathan Patterson

After three years of shameless cheerleading it seems that some in the media are starting to realise that Nathan Patterson isn’t a very good footballer.

Making Steven Gerrard’s squad during the Lockdown season the Murray Park starlet picked up a Fixed Penalty for being caught at a party with team-mates but it only took starting three SPFL matches and a media campaign to get him into the bloated Scotland squad for the 2021 European Championships.

Patterson started two more SPFL matches before Everton were fooled into signing him in a deal that had a shade of the Boumsong’s about it, BBC Scotland claimed it was a £16m move while their colleagues on Merseyside stuck with undisclosed.

In the two years and two months since he moved to Goodison the Murray Park starlet has started 23 EPL matches for a team constantly fighting relegation- and become a regular in the Scotland squad.

He was never a terrific young player. Calvin Ramsey and Josh Doig were better full-backs at a similar time as the Patterson hype. Shorn of ability would be more accurate.

Ramsay is struggling for games on loan at Bolton in League One after failing to get into the Preston side after going out on loan from Liverpool.

Doig is with the Scotland u-21 squad with his career progressing steadily at Sassulo after moving there from Verona.

Ramsay and Doig are finding their level in the game without the hysteria that greeted Patterson who is clearly badly out of his depth at International level- as Conor Bradley showed last night.

The national team / SFA level of ambition is to just qualify for tournaments,

    – but then do absolutely nothing when they get there.

In fact, PL might be interested in signing Clarke whenever BR leaves…? 🙁

  • KC67 says:

He’s a talentless diddy, he’ll never make it – end of.

How Clarke and his back-up team never saw the need to hook this guy is beyond me…Not only was he at fault for the goal…he was also at fault for the one NI missed but should have scored from…Watch when the ball is cleared for the corner…3 of his team mates all turned round and glared at him with a WTF expression on their face…So as much as he is to blame…and he is…The coaching staff need a rocket as well.

Classic case of the Scottish press and ex hun pundits going into hype overdrive on a player to help get their favourite club much needed cash

Like Bassey and what they are doing with Butland right now

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

It only helps if other managers listen to the hype and Lying for Liebrox from The Scummy Scottish Football Media Harold…

And who the hell in their right mind would believe what these crayon level writers come away with in print !

The booing of God save the Queen was magical and magnificent last night…

Congratulations to The Tartan Army – Scotland’s star quality on the night by a country mile !!!

Patterson has never impressed in a Scotland shirt, for me and yet, he gets picked again.
It is the old Einstien Theory of repeating madness over and over because you think you might get a different outcome!
We should be playing and developing our strongest team!
You show your opponents your weakness and they will exploit it to the full.
So, don’t be surprised when it happens!
