Derek Ferguson has suggested that there is a clause in Fabio Silva’s contract that he must be played while on loan from Wolves.

Inheriting a dire range of forwards from Micky Beale in October Philippe Clement moved quickly to sign the Portuguese flop on loan from Wolves with Silva appearing as a substitute against Kilmarnock on January 2.

The signing was viewed as another sign of genius from A Proper Football Manager with his bizarre £35m transfer fee from Porto mentioned at every opportunity.

Apart from his theatrics against Celtic and impressive tattoos there has been very little contribution from Silva who is now getting panned as Clement’s title hopes hang by a thread.

Watching Ferguson on Open Goal the Daily Record reports Barry’s big brother saying:

Silva offers you absolutely nothing. He must have a clause in his contract that he starts every game because on his past five, six performances he’s been nothing short of woeful. He contributes absolutely nothing. £35million player?

What is he? Wide man, through the middle. He does nothing. No contribution. It’s at this time of the season. If you want to be champions you’ve got to have that mental strength. Under pressure? Deal with it.

Silva has started 12 matches and appeared as a substitute in six more. Since his arrival wonderboy Ross McCausland has fallen out of favour despite his Balon d’Or form immediately after the Proper Football Manager took charge.

Almost anything can be put in a loan contract, a favourite is that the parent club pay the bulk of the wages as long as the player is being used, if he is dropped or left out the loan club has to pay a far bigger slice of the wages.

35 million for Fabio Silva ? That’s probably the old Italian Lira price …18 million Lira for a packet of chewing gum as an example !

I don’t know how much they pay him but that class of acting he produces, week after week, doesn’t come cheaply!
