Jack Butland escapes Scot free from full on assault

Once again Philippe Clement’s side enjoyed the benefits of some ‘puzzling’ refereeing decisions as they crashed to a 3-2 defeat away to Ross County.

John Beaton managed to steer the Ibrox Tribute Act through 90 plus minutes last week against Celtic without reaching for a single card, not even when Cyriel Dessers grabbed a corner flag as he raced in to celebrate with supporters.

In contrast Celtic had four players booked, including three during the first half that they dominated.

Matthew MacDermid had no other option but to show Abdallah Sima a yellow card for punching the ball into the net with the score 2-1 for the home side.

Deep into stoppage time Jack Butland went up for a corner on the right, when it was cleared out for a corner on the left he hung around for the 96th minute delivery.

As the cross came into the six yard box Butland ignored the ball as he raced straight into County keeper Ross Laidlaw, knocking him to the ground.

No action was taken against the former Crystal Palace reserve, a red card would have ruled him out of the matches against Dundee on Wednesday night and on Sunday away to Hearts.

More appalling evidence and more appalling stats then…

And while we cannot reasonably expect the yellow, yellow men in grey suits to impact on a match not involving Celtic perhaps Ross County could be saying something about it…

However I’ll take the massive and unexpected boost that they gave us yesterday and they’d probably be celebrating big time their first ever win over Sevco to be thinking about that incident –

But yet again… Corruption, Subversion of the rules to suit one club only…

    It’s a Scottish thing ya know !

They are all cheats or coached to do so, i have never seen aanything remotely like it , even the waffle condones it, at all costs it seems because they know no one is getting booked in the run up there are too many of them on the edge of dropping out . All it takes is 1 mib to run a normal match involving that team and the season is over for them .

The way I see it after yesterday’s capitulation by the Rangers ,come Summertime ,every penny shall be more of a prisoner than it is now as it looks likely the clumpany won’t make the CL and it’s vast riches .

Enter big Butland ! The SMSM shall be calling for millions for the keeper to try to compensate what shall be heading Celtic’s way ..financially ? The new Lev Yashin …the greatest thing since bubblegum …and more of the same . Lookout for him being punted as the ‘sportswriters ‘ player of the year ? After yesterday’s performance ,what a joke that would be ?

I thought the young referee had a good game, Dallas on VAR however, his usual “experienced” self…

If any outfield player in any other game (i.e. one with no Huns involved) launched themselves at the opposition keeper like that, it’s a straight red. Reckless and endangering an opponent. But because he’s a goalie and, more importantly, a Hun glove warmer, it’s seen differently somehow. Imagine that happening at a Ross County corner in that game. Wonder what the outcome would have been then? Actually, no. I don’t.

I think Gareth Southgate’s interest in Jack Butland for an English Cap lasted all of nineteen seconds in the game against Celtic.
Maybe Jack is feeling sore and sorry for himself, knowing that he fluffed it!
    Uncle Phiilipe meant
    “Nothing”
against Don Cowie after doing a Simione on him at Dingwall.
Ah well. At least they had luxury travel all the way back to Glasgow!
