Celtic will go into the post-split fixtures in top spot in the SPFL Premiership.

Yesterday the hoops beat St Mirren 3-0 at home to go move four points clear in top place.

That lead was under threat this week with Philippe Clement’s side having two matches in hand but this afternoon they lost the first of them 3-2 away to Ross County.

An own goal put the visitors in front at half-time but two goals in three minutes early in the second period from Simon Murray and George Harmon put County ahead after just 50 minutes.

There was no siege on the County goal, Abdallah Sima was booked for punching the ball into the net but moments later Josh Sims extended the lead.

Clement made four changes trying to change the game but only had a James Tavernier penalty in the 88th minute to show for their efforts.

Seven minutes of stoppage time provided the opportunity for an equaliser but it wasn’t to be despite Jack Butland spending the last two minutes in the County penalty box as corners were sent in.

Clement must now lift his side to face Dundee on Wednesday knowing that the title advantage has swung to Celtic.

The post-split fixtures have still to be announced but Celtic will have three home matches including the final SPFL Glasgow Derby of the campaign.
