Brendan Rodgers was relaxed and cracking jokes after Celtic’s nerve shredding Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen.

The hoops won the tie 6-5 on penalties after a 3-3 draw against opponents who will now have to turn their attention to escaping from the relegation play off spot.

After going behind in the second minute to a goal from Bojan Miovski Celtic led in the second half and in extra-time but were pegged back by almost identical goals scored by back post headers.

Celtic have had multiple problems with penalties this season but in the shoot out all six outfield players found the net with style.

Joe Hart sent his own penalty against the post but bounced back to push away Cillian Phillips’ effort to book a Hampden return on May 25.

Cup ties are all about progressing but after an impressive recent run in the SPFL Aberdeen exposed a number of defensive weaknesses that are bound to concern Rodgers.

The hoops are back in action a week o Sunday when they face Dundee in the first post split fixture.
