U-turn: Watch as David Edgar spectacularly ditches his man love for Captain Tav

Seven weeks ago David Edgar couldn’t hold back on his man love for James Tavernier.

A 2-1 win away to Kilmarnock left the Heart & Hand host acting like an excited teenager as he drooled over a free kick scored by Captain Disappointed to extract three points from Rigby Park.

On Matchday One of the season the first signs emerged that Micky Beale maybe wasn’t the most exciting young British coach of his generation, six matches later, after losing 3-1 at home to Aberdeen Beale was gone.

Seen off by the same Leadership Group that had delivered just two trophies in six years with James Tavernier the leading culprit. No Ibrox captain has watched Celtic lift more domestic trophies.

Most Ibrox fans know that on a good day Tav is bang average but after that win away to Kilmarnock all was forgiven as Edgar put his faith in the former Wigan man to deliver the SPFL title in front of 50,000 adoring bears.

Yesterday reality returned as Edgar watched the man with the armband fail to lead his side to victory over Ross County, with seven matches left to be played it was a bitter blow to take.

Just a few weeks after the excitement of Ruby Park it is now time to say goodbye to Tav, Goldson and Lundstram in the summer. Unfortunately for Ibrox fans Tav and Goldson are still under contract and will be back again next season for more of the same.
