Fabio Silva’s Mum has taken to Instagram to defend her son against the personal attacks being made by Ibrox fans.

Signed on loan in January the £35m striker was expected to deliver the goals to take Phil Clement’s side to the SPFL title and a guaranteed place in next season’s Champions League.

Lawrence Shankland was the signing most bears wanted to see, with Silva falling well short there has been no shortage of criticism of his performances and attitude.

The tide of supporter opinion turned against Silva when he pointed towards the name on the back of his shirt after equalising against the 10 men of Kilmarnock, that came a few weeks after falling to the ground when he was presented with an open goal in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Hearts.

Celebrating a goal in a dead rubber against Hearts isn’t the best of looks, taking to Instagram to share the joy while Celtic are being presented with the SPFL trophy went down like a lead balloon among loyal bears.

The good news for Silva and his Mum is that next week he returns to Wolves with another loan deal expected next season as Wolves write off the £35m that they paid Porto in 2020 accompanied by a six year contract.

Either way it is an embarrassment just to close up shop because events unfolded not quite in the way you would have liked!
