After an international recruitment campaign to replace Crawford Allan the SFA have found the ideal candidate from the Lanarkshire Refereeing Association.
Allan’s ‘resignation’ was greeted with hope with some fooled by claims that the SFA would be looking to bring in an outsider to begin a new era of accountability forced on them by VAR.
Instead they have appointed Willie Collum, a man with 20 years of absolute howlers on his CV, who has shown absolute contempt for players and managers throughout his career where he has always hogged the limelight, wanting to be the star of the show.
Collum signed off his on-field career in trademark style when he took charge of Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.
A brutal assault on Alistair Johnston by John Lundstram was deemed to be worth a booking before VAR intervened to force him to upgrade.
In the eighth minute Mohamed Diomanse elbowed Reo Hatate on the back of the neck and the side of his face, Collum awarded Celtic a free kick and took no further action.

Ian Maxwell told the SFA website:
When we announced that Crawford was leaving at the end of the season the board and senior team were clear that we would leave no stone unturned in getting the best candidate for a job that has become significantly more demanding with the arrival of VAR.
We had applications from experienced candidates across the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. It is to Willie’s great credit that he emerged as the outstanding candidate from such a strong international field.
Willie has had a unique refereeing career, which started in his early teens. He has gone on to become one of our most experienced and decorated match officials and has amassed the practical knowledge and experience to make a significant contribution as Head of Refereeing.
Collum’s career in refereeing is entirely due to the support and backing of Hugh Dallas who has already created a full-time VAR job for his equally talentless son Andrew.
With the allegiances of himself, his father and grandfather well known Dallas was quick to pick up on the young RE teacher in the Lanarkshire Refereeing Association and groomed Collum in his own style.
In 2016 Dallas managed to get Collum a place at the finals of the European Championships, after two group stage matches he was in the first batch of officials axed. No further invites were made from FIFA or UEFA to major competitions.
With Collum now heading up Refereeing for the SFA the Lanarkshire group are more powerful than ever with Bobby Madden expected to be given a senior role to balance things out.

i was ready to say this appointment is beyond belief but then again no one should really be surprised.the most incompetent football association in the world.
Sorry to do this but…
1. Change a yellow to red and send off a Sevco player after looking at a replay?
2. Give us a penalty which, on reflection, looked like O’Riley kind of tripped up himself?
3. Not give them a penalty for nothing?
4. Not engineer two yellows to send a Celtic player off.
5. Not played 30 mins injury time to allow them to equalise.
6. …and so on

The only thing I would say is that he probably would not have done these things at Ibrox but the others wouldn’t have dared.anywhere. Credit where credit’s due.

Seems Sevco have brought this on themselves so should be funny hearing them whining about this also , hopefully it affects them more than us , paybacks a b!tch eh sevco, HA, HA.

They really are funny bastards at the SFA, the searched the world to replace Crawford Allan, aye so they fuckin did.
They have appointed the a guy that sevco demanded that he never ref another league game at ibrox again and the new klub got their way with this. The reason for that call out was because he was incompetent and worse ref to ever get a gig at ibrox,now they have him in charge of all things refereeing,you couldn’t make that up.
He is the unity candidate, though, Joe. Nobody wants him.
