It was a phrase laced with danger, at various times during the campaign it looked like rebounding on him but last night Brendan Rodgers got his way as he was welcomed back to Celtic Park in May, as champions.
Thirteen months ago it was a scenario that no one could envisage as Ange Postecoglou prepared for a treble with Rodgers out of work after being sacked by Leicester ahead of their relegation from the EPL.
Football works in strange ways but no one was predicting the Return of Rodgers. Last June he was back as manager, the welcome party only consisted of a few hundred fans with ‘See you here in May’ his reply when he was asked for his response to the doubters.
? WATCH: “I stood here a year ago and there were about 200 people here. I said I’d see you back here in May.. we have a few more than 200 here now, fantastic!”

It has been a dramatic season, there was a very worrying dip in performances and results through the winter but in the final stretch things started to come together.
Cameron Carter-Vickers was joined by Reo Hatate returning from injury, Callum McGregor forced his way back from an Achilles injury and suddenly the results and performances were befitting a title winning side.
A 2-1 win in the Glasgow Derby on Saturday set up a week of celebrations, they started during a 5-0 win away to Kilmarnock and continued until after midnight with the trophy to be awarded on Saturday at home to St Mirren.
Rodgers has delivered on his ‘see you back here in May’ pledge, on May 25 he has the chance to double up on his trophy count for the season when Celtic visit Hampden for the Scottish Cup Final.
See you back here next May Brendan for Title No.55 –
While Sevco languish on ONE (Snigger, Snigger)…
And ‘Rangers’ (R. I. H) are stuck on 53 (plenty by cheating, some by honesty) and the half they shared with Dumbarton FC who incidentally had a better goal difference and goal average as well but never were awarded it !!!
Only in scotland.
