Having got away without any punishment for a serious of attacks on Reo Hatate in his two previous Glasgow Derby appearances, Mohamed Diomande took his Invisible status to new levels on Saturday.

Signed in January on loan from Nordsjaelland with a commitment to pay a fee of £4.5m this summer, the midfielder arrived in Scotland having been booked in seven of his last nine appearances for the Danish side.

Discipline hasn’t been a problem for Diomande in Scotland where Crawford Allan’s favourites have shown just one yellow card in his direction in 17 appearances for Phil Clement’s side.

Constantly blocking and body checking opponents or following through with a late sliding leg are his favourite ploys, in despair at Hampden he decided to just kick out at Daizen Maeda- twice.

The incident above occurred early in stoppage time as the frustrations of Adam Idah’s goal boiled over.

With Celtic running down the clock in the corner Diomanse kicked his left leg out to hit Maeda on the left shin, not content with that his momentum continued as he kicked the Celtic winger in the lower stomach before falling over. Team-mate John Lundstram appeared on the scene to fire an elbow at Maeda.

Naturally Nick Walsh decided to book Maeda, after a lengthy VAR review play continued with no punishment from John Beaton for either of Clement’s players.

UEFA have called up their top 90 officials for next month’s European Championships in Germany, Walsh, Beaton and their incoming boss Willie Collum will be watching the action on television.

I’m not going to criticis Walsh as he would never have seen any of the multiple separate incidents involving $ecvo players, including both penalties, players kicking out and attacking opponents…….

However Beaton on VAR would have seen every single one of said incidents and did nothing, he should be joining his ex boss in exploring other employment opportunities…..
