Kenny Miller was given a brilliant shout out by Chris Sutton at last night’s Celtic POTY Awards at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.
The two strikers were a couple of years away from overlapping in their Celtic careers but were poles apart on Saturday as they backed up Ian Crocker’s commentary of the Glasgow Derby for Sky Sports.
A few minutes before half time John Lundstram committed the most brutal foul of the contest, Willie Collum initially bottled it with a yellow card but was forced to upgrade it to a red after a VAR review requested by Steven McLean.
It wasn’t a marginal call, in the Sky Sports studio Kris Boyd opted out of trying to defend it but Miller was on a mission to defend Lundstram as if his life depended on it.
On commentary duty he was outraged at the decision to send Lundstram off, he doubled down during the halftime analysis then went into meltdown after the match as Boyd, James McFadden and Neil Lennon taunted him over his teenage petulance.
Miller was far from finished, after his Sky Sports earner he was on Sportsound with BBC Scotland criticising Collum, followed up by a blockbuster column in the Daily Record on the same theme.
Signed as a free agent by Gordon Strachan in the summer of 2006 Miller scored 10 goals for Celtic, starting 28 matches and coming off the bench in a further 18 games.
