Ally McCoist is still struggling to come to terms with Celtic’s double success.
Just over a month ago Adam Idah scored the goal that clinched the Scottish Cup Final while Ibrox diehard McCoist was picking up another ITV payday covering the FA Cup Final at Wembley.
Over the winter months the former Sevco boss got increasingly chirpy and excited about trophies heading to Ibrox, ahead of the April Glasgow Derby he vowed to commit hate crimes as he previewed the match on TalkSPORT.
Not for the first time it all ended in tears for McCoist, at the business end of the season Phil Clement’s side wilted under the pressure while Celtic went from strength to strength.
Picking up on his TalkSPORT appearance this morning the Daily Record reports the cheeky chappy saying:
That’s the one thing (summer recruitment), a couple have come in, it looks like the goalkeeper is going to be the captain (Jack Butland could replace James Tavernier if he exits) next season. There has to be an improvement. I thought Celtic and Rangers were average last year. I really did. I thought Celtic were slightly better, obviously, but I didn’t think the standard was particularly great. I would be very hopeful there would be improvement with the two of them.
As long as Celtic are better average than the Ibrox Tribute Act media life will be a misery for McCoist, Kenny Miller, Graeme Souness, Kris Boyd, Barry Ferguson and the other on-message Ibrox cheerleaders.
Back in February and March the race for the SPFL title was being described as a thriller, the most exciting in a generation, one that could go all the way to the wire with the Ibrox club under the guidance of A Proper Football Manager.
Once Motherwell, Dundee, Celtic and Ross County exposed Clement as the Belgian Beale the tone changed to putting down both Glasgow clubs.
By the end of the season the message had been changed to ‘there’s actually not much of a gap’ between the clubs despite Celtic coasting through to take the title by eight points- one more than Clement inherited in October.
McCoist has still to give his veridict on the exciting new signings at Ibrox- Connor Barron, Jefte and Clinton Nsiala.

I hang onto every word from Fat Sally…then throw them in the bin…He’s a FUD.
Fat swally was commenting tonight on ITV, it goes like this,”exshellent, exshellent, absolutely first class exshellent by country mile ,pure exshellent absholutely by a country mile ,and this fat dodgy dangerous piece of work gets paid handsomely for talking utter schite, because he fools the stupid English with his cheeky chappy, bullshit.the man is fucking menace.
Coisty is becoming more and more the embarrassing ‘uncle’ at any gathering!
The one who let’s slip who snagged the Bride!!
Aunt Morags collapsed bottom.
Cousin Freddy who were caught wearing ‘All Leather’ at a ‘Not mention party’.
No longer a cheeky chappie, more now an angry hemmaroid sufferer.
As soon as the Huns drap 10 pts behind early Sept Fat Swallee will blame the green crane at the Crumbledome as a Celik plant lol! Just give us the Treble ranoo, we’re no losing a game!!
Lol how we feel his pain, long may it continue.
sleikit the tactical genius the fish supper petrol cup or whatever its called failure talking about standards a shameless imposter . has he made any comment about the ibrox fixtures shambles yet ?.
Be fair James, the Constant Gardener certainly knows his onions!
lol
In the end there wasn’t much in it. We won and they didn’t!
Sleekit is correct for once: both teams were average for large parts of the season.
But Celtic did pick up in the run in, then dropped off again towards the end of the season.
Yet, we have the title and cup recorded in the history books, and that’s all that will be
remembered.
The difference between both clubs now is that we know we can do much, much better,
and we have both the manager and the financial resources to do something about it.
sevco has neither.
sevco currently doesn’t even have a stadium! 🙂
Yes Bob let’s hope our board back the manager,I’ve my doubts about the board with liewell still at the helm and maybe Rodgers stays quiet and gets on with picking up his 3 million,I just don’t trust our board to dig in and leave sevco for dead , which we could do but I see DD and Liewell I’m not sure.we will once more try and play lowball figures to try and buy a player you know liewell and the mcginn etc ,I don’t think nothings changed since the last time Rodgers bolted because of interference from liewell,I thought maybe this time when he agreed to come back it would be on his terms ,but that last window he got foisted on him a lot of players he didn’t rate ,but instead of telling the board fuck this ,he stated ” I’ll work with what I’m given” so I think fuck all has changed apart from he’s getting paid £3million,I hope this transfer window proves me wrong but the way it’s going so far I’m not so sure.
It’s very cold in our shadow.
Must be hell for them…. Wahey!
Aye Jam tomorrow Swally…
Just as it was last year – and the year before – and the year before that as well…
And the wheels of the bus go round and round !
He’s that good at managing football teams.makes you wonder why he’s a pundit.easy money.
Finishing eight points behind an average Celtic side has to be bad news for every hun wee ally should consider that
