A report from Belgium has claimed that Oh Hyeon-gyu is keen on a move to join Genk.
Playing time dropped dramatically for the South Korean striker in the second half of the 23/24 season after a fairly promising first year as a Celtic player.
It seems likely that Celtic are open to selling their January 2023 signing but right now Oh is the second choice striker with Adam Idah back at Norwich.
Signing Idah on a permanent basis or another striker appears to be a priority for Brendan Rodgers, until that player is secured it would be surprising if Oh is allowed to move out unless a substantial fee was offered.
Explaining the situation at Celtic, HBVL reports:
KRC Genk even made an initial bid for the South Korean centre-forward, who scored five times in twenty league games in his first season at Celtic and also made five appearances in the Champions League.

Hyeon-gyu Oh did not have his happiest season in Glasgow after joining from Suwon Bluewings last summer. A shin injury hampered his start, but five goals in six games at the end of 2023 seemed to launch him. Until Celtic signed extra striker Adam Idah on loan from Norwich in January. He scored seven times in ten matches, also fitted in better with coach Brendan Rodgers’ plans in terms of playing style and thus ensured that Hyeon-gyu Oh completely disappeared from the picture.
That is why the South Korean international, who has already collected eleven A-caps, is keen on a transfer to Genk. The agile and physically strong attacker wants to revive his career. And sees potential in a collaboration with coach Thorsten Fink, the man who launched his compatriot/great role model Heung-min Son (now Tottenham) at HSV twelve years ago.
Oh should be reporting back to Celtic for pre-season training at the end of this month with away friendlies scheduled against Ayr United and Queens Park on July 5 and 10.
Most of the internationalists should be back for the three match tour of the USA featuring matches against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea on July 21, 24 and 27.
Oh is under contract with Celtic until May 2028.

Seems like Oh is set on a move. But Celtic will have to secure Idah’s services before they let him go!
