Chris Sutton has slammed the closure of Ibrox as a ridiculous state of affairs.
After all the criticism of Dundee over waterlogging problems the boot is well and truly on the other foot this summer with John Bennett having to own up to Ibrox not being ready for the start of the season.
Bad weather and problems with the pitch caused the problems at Dens Park but at Ibrox it is all self inflicted after they tried to cut corners with costs and set an unrealistic timescale to add 600 seats to the Copland Road Stand.
From firing out pompous statements the Ibrox club are now looking on Neil Doncaster to come up with some favours while 11 sets of SPFL supporters laugh at the Tribute Act and speculate over the true extent of their problems.
Discussing the footballing impact in the Daily Record Sutton claimed:
Philippe Clement needs to rebuild his squad and he’s not being helped by the fact that his bosses don’t seem so clever when it comes to rebuilding parts of the stadium.
Rangers fans aren’t interested in shipping containers and absent steel. Not being able to see their team play games at Ibrox is a ridiculous state of affairs. Listen, Rangers should be beating Motherwell and Ross County in the first month if they have to play them on the moon, but it’s not the point and it also has to have some effect on Clement’s chances in the Champions League qualifiers.
Ibrox has been a powerful ally in Europe in recent seasons. Not having it for qualifiers and failing to make the competition’s new-look league phase could easily see another £40 million jackpot disappear. Celtic are already in there.
No timescale has been set for when Ibrox will reopen, no alternative venue has been named with Season Ticket holders left in the dark over arrangements with the new campaign just five weeks away.

Beaten by Murderwell at hame & Dross County away! If it WIZNY fur the LYIN doon Mini Huns ad Fancy the FILTH tae have Nil POI after 3 games WHAHAHAHAHA!!
Sutton saying what all the cheerleaders , Ferguson , Hutton etc are too scared to say
Why don’t they just come out and name the company? Or is there a financial problem that has led to non delivery?
Looks like too much of the bouncy bouncy has bit those cretins in the arse.
Hope that’s only the start of the filths problems for next season.
As far as I’m aware entry into the competition is dependant upon having a ground for the first game of the season and thereafter.
james i have to take sutton to task here just like the gutless why is he giving the same club lie credibility with this talk of 55 and trophy haul.
Just surprised that sevco hasn’t yet demanded that the league games
are delayed until their stadium is ready?!
Scottish football is made to suffer – again – by a shambolic ibrox club.
Is it any wonder the SFA and the SPFL struggle to find sponsors…?
🙁
