Lecce can expect competition from Frosinone for the signing of Gus Lagerbielke.

The defender was an injury to Cameron Carter-Vickers away from joining Lecce in January and is expected to end his short but dramatic Celtic career when the transfer window opens later this week.

In 10 appearances Lagerbielke managed to score the winning goal in a Champions League tie, played the full 90 minutes in a win at Ibrox and was sent off for giving away a penalty on his Champions League debut.

That package failed to impress Brendan Rodgers who dropped the 23-year-old to his fifth choice central defender and sanctioned a January loan deal to Italy.

Lecce finished last season in 14th place but face competition to side the Swede from relegated Frosinone.

Picking up on a report from Italy, Football Scotland reports:

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato is now reporting Lecce will launch another attempt to take the Swede to Italy. However Frosinone, recently relegated to Serie B, are set to rival them for his signature.

With four years left on his contract Celtic are in the driving seat in transfer negotiations but after such a sharp demise the best solution for both parties would be an early exit for the Swedish international defender.
