Charlie Miller has admitted that Celtic’s trophy toll has left him worried sick.
The midfielder was the golden boy of the mid-nineties, tipped to achieve multiple honours and accolades until he got too pally with Paul Gascoigne and Ally McCoist as his career went off the rails.
Spells in Norway, Dundee United and Hearts followed as his career went into freefall.
At Rangers things took longer to stall, Walter Smith returned for a second stint in charge and secured three SPL title in 2009, 2010 and 2011 with a squad rammed with players that the club couldn’t afford.
Liquidation followed on from administration, then there was the Tribute Act which has won a puny three domestic trophies in a decade.
March 2023:

We still take a lot of pride in that achievement, of course we should.”Wonder what Charlie Miller thinks now that Celtic are the most successful club? pic.twitter.com/h349Xi7Fw5

Celtic’s 19 trophy wins in the last eight seasons have been greeted with despair by Miller, after the hoops won the 2023 League Cup Final thanks to a double from Kyogo Furuhashi he spoke to the Daily Record:
I played 10 Old Firm games and never lost any of them. That was great but believe me I know how this current Rangers team feels because it hurts us all as fans. It makes us sick to the stomach.
They just have to pick themselves up, dust themselves down and go again. You can’t ever give up as a Rangers player and there’s still a prize to be won this season before we get down to work next season.
We still believe we’re the most successful club in the world so it’s worrying to see Celtic closing in. We still take a lot of pride in that achievement, of course we should.
But it’s getting mighty close now and as a club, from the board down to the manager and the playing squad, we really need to start thinking about how we get things right again.
Mick has done well. He’d gone all the results we’ve been looking for since coming in before Sunday, which was obviously a let down. But we’ll stick by him, support him and take it from there.
I hope Mick learns from this because we’ve got a good coach here. I really do. I want Rangers to be successful under him too.
He’s got the next couple of transfer windows to get this right but the summer one coming up is vital because we can’t go another year without winning the league again. That’s just not on.
Mick lasted another few months, took three more defeats from Celtic either side of winning a dead rubber before he was packed off eight matches into the 23/24 SPFL season.
His successor was A Proper Football Manager until it came to playing Celtic, three defeats and a draw has served as a reminder of the superiority across the city.
Since Miller watched the Tribute Act losing in the League Cup Final Celtic have added four more trophies despite the handicap of having to deduct Income Tax and National Insurance in full from wages being paid to players and managers.
With Celtic sitting on the same trophy count as both Ibrox clubs combined it seems like severe vomiting is on the way for Miller and Sir Walter’s generation of players.
I’d even say Celtic are 0.5 trophies ahead in The Survival Liebrox Lie…
Dumbarton FC shared one with Rangers (as they were rightly known as then) and had a better goal average and goal difference but still weren’t exclusively awarded it (Good Old Scottish Football – even back then eh)…
We are also a million miles ahead on trophies won on average figures whether it’s before ‘Rangers’ died (c.2012) or The Survival Lie of the clubs combined or the truth v Sevco alone !
Oh Charlie – ya better get snorting some lad…
Because there’s some beautiful statistics out there in The Scottish Football World…
And some more coming down the pipe in a direction your way sometime soon hopefully !
It’s gonna be fun all the way, Clach, when the Celts claim a-legitimate-55th title.
Hail Hail
We became Scotland’s most successful club when we won the Scottish cup in Ange’s treble winning season
116 trophies to the dead club ragers 1872s 115
Anything else just endorses the same club LIE .
HH
All the “World” talk is cringeworthy, 15 Euro Cups is where that rhetoric matters.
They said/say they are to cover for the fact they’ve never lifted the Big Cup.
Wee minded parochial pygmies who’ll not even be most successful club in Glasgow soon.
Editor: We will be Scotland’s most successful club, that is good enough.
That’s just more Lies from Liebrox Mark…
The most successful club in the world I believe is Al Ahly of Egypt in trophy terms –
In stature terms as ya say – Real Madrid !!!
Charlie Miller need not worry his Rangers 1872 were Liquidated (cremated) in 2012. The current Rangers 2012 is the phoenix that rose from the ashes. Time to keep ramming this message down their throats
Sevco have NEVER been the most successful club in the world. You cannot be that without winning the top European Trophy, which Real Madrid have done 13 times as well as major trophies in Spain. They are the most successful club in the world. Celtic are the most successful club in Scotland.
Also a good number of Oldco’s trophies were won when everyone else was away fighting and dying in WW2, whilst their players secured jobs in the shipyards and were allowed time off to train. They do not do things appropriately, but continually cheat and have been doing so since early last century.
They really should hang their heads in shame rather than spout undignified nonsense. No wonder everyone finds them distasteful.
Wish we drop this arguement..lwave it to that mob..its embarrassing
I don’t think any Tim takes the argument seriously, Baz. It’s just a class way to wind up the Huns.
Hail Hail.
