BBC Scotland have strengthened their coverage of football with a swoop for Derek Clark.
The former Hamilton Accies fan made his reputation during Brendan Rodgers’ first spell in charge of Celtic by constant sniping at the record breakers from his base in the North West of England.
Clark, known affectionately online as Specky, covered the Bolton and Wigan beat for TalkSPORT but was headhunted by the Rangers Review when it was launched in the summer of 2021 as Newsquest tried to capture the fan media market.
Since launch it has been almost non-stop failure at Ibrox with Clark and the team tasked with talking up every new player, manager and Revolution while Celtic pile on the trophies which currently stand at 118.
That background has clearly appealed to the Sports Desk at BBC Scotland this morning they announced:
Iona Ballantyne previews the season ahead for Rangers with the club’s former striker Billy Dodds and Rangers Review journalist Derek Clark.
?My piece on GvB’s impressive start as Rangers boss and why fans shouldn’t be concerned by Celtic scraping wins.https://t.co/bABKDKhIlN

Wake up call for GvB, much improved second half although lacked any real cutting edge in attack with Celtic blowing a gasket.
Bad night at the office, league is still there to be won.

The move further strengthens the talent pool at Pacific Quay which can already call on Kenny Macintyre, Tom English, Alasdair Lamont, Jane Lewis, Steven Thompson, Neil McCann, Rory Loy, Kenny Miller, Lee McCulloch and Kenny Miller to apply comforting spin for the bad news seeping out of Ibrox.
Nineteen days after announcing that Ibrox won’t be available for the start of the 24/25 season there has been no further comment from the club and no questions asked of the club, the SFA or SPFL by the state broadcaster.
With some glee last week Lewis broke the news that Norwich had rejected a bid from Celtic for Adam Idah but was unable to shed any light on Kenny McLean rejecting advances from his ‘boyhood idols’.

Bit surprising from a man who deemed it acceptable for a swathe of fans to invade Hampden Park, rip up the pitch, tear down the goalposts, assault opposition players & result in police cavalry to gallop onto a football field https://t.co/ntXyjcIzuT

Parody account surely. Feck me man ??

Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me….unless you play for Celtic that is????? https://t.co/pUwvsXY2As

To put it into context…Celtic’s team on Sunday included just two players brought in by Brendan Rodgers, the remainder were complete and utter diddies in Ronny Deila’s team
To say Rangers need £70m is complete lunacy https://t.co/08YqUpen0T

So predictable the only folk mocking my Niko Katic/Jaap Stam comparison are green tinted specs wearing Celtic fans.
Guys I get it, you can’t accept a player from your biggest rivals being praised?

R2ngers Review journalist? Shome mishtake shurely?
An oxymoron if ever there was one.
With the accent on MORON.
Oh dear, another addition to the BBC’s already well-stocked stable of horses arses……
Still, given their poor squad, combustible manager and the debacle of iBrox Park falling down about their ears, there could be entertaining banter ahead with this “Hamilton Accies fan” who probably couldn’t find New Douglas Park with a sat nav and the postcode….
Ah wee specky Joe90 getting a gig at the another BIGOT DOME the BBC.
Kenny Miller takes a break to eventually f*ck up another coaching gig and get sacked again
In steps another rabid hun cheerleader
BBC Scotland should not be inside Celtic park.
Spot on , meant to be impartial, anything but .
Honestly, this guy doesn’t even pretend to mask it. He should go on air/screen wearing a sevco shirt. What a fkn t@sser. Par for the course with the BBC sevco love-in.
