Celtic are reported to have stepped up their interest in signing Peter Vindahl Jensen from Sparta Prague.

The news comes from Scott Burns of the Daily Record, a reporter with a credible track record on transfer moves.

Celtic fans are still waiting for their social media team to click into action with the introduction of a new arrival, since Joe Hart announced his retirement in February there has been speculation over who would take his place.

Scott Bain, Tobi Oluwayemi and Josh Clarke were in action against Ayr United on Friday night but neither of those ‘keepers are expected to start the SPFL opener against Kilmarnock on August 4.

There has been no shortage of speculation about who might be replacing Hart with the Record claiming:

Celtic will make another move to land Sparta Prague No. 1 Peter Vindahl Jensen.

The Danish keeper is amongst the Hoops’ top summer targets. They have been trying to strike a deal for several weeks but his Czech side are reluctant to sell and would want a fee in excess of £8million. Celtic still believe a deal can be done to land the 26-year-old and will make another push. The Scottish champions have a shortlist of keepers and Vindahl Jensen is right at the top of it.

Vindahl Jensen is also desperate to break into the Danish national team and to play in the English Premier League. The player knows moving to Scotland could have him achieve on both those fronts. Celtic’s biggest obstacle is Sparta Prague. They don’t want to sell and they want to keep Vindahl Jensen for their own Champions League assault.

Sparta only signed the keeper on a permanent basis this summer after taking up the option after initially taking him on loan from AZ Alkmaar. Celtic have been doing their homework on goalkeepers since Joe Hart announced he was retiring in the summer.

Vindahl Jensen has been capped at u-18, u-19 and u-21 level but has yet to earn a full Danish cap.

At the age of 26 with experience of playing in Denmark, Holland and the Czech Republic he should be able to settle quickly at Celtic, in an ideal world he would be with the hoops squad that travels to the USA for friendlies against DC United on July 21, Manchester City on July 24 and Chelsea three days later.

Burns mentions Scottish transfers on his Twitter/X bio.

Celtic would not let Ben Siegrist go in January 2023. Now it looks like they are
trying to sell him. It may take time! Celtic are partly responsible for devaluing him.
If Celtic FC has no intention of using Ben; showcase him on the US tour. If not, promptly make him a free agent. I do not personally know Ben and have never heard of his betrothed. Terence Nova said it all, in his recent comment.
The way things are moving, Ben will be getting “sit-down money” with James McCarthy during the next campaign. Finally, Ben is an exceptionally good keeper.

The only time I take any notice of what that hun rag says about who Celtic are signing

Is when they copy and paste ( Steal ) one of Fabrizio Romano’s exclusives
