Ibrox fans slaughter staunch John Bennett as he delivers Only An Excuse

John Bennett finally got in front of a camera yesterday to deliver a very unconvincing 22 minute interview that said very little other than he is an uber-staunch ‘Rangers’ fan.

The Ibrox Chairman came over like a character Johnathan Watson would create in a sketch for Only An Excuse which just about summed up the interview.

It must have made for painful viewing for the angry bears that hold their Essex based Executive Chairman responsible for the shambles on and off the pitch.

On June 20 the club announced that Ibrox wouldn’t be ready for the start of the season, on July 29 bears were informed that one ship has arrived, two more are on route to Glasgow with delivery expected in the second and third weeks of August.

Hibs are scheduled to visit Ibrox on September 28 which is the target date for a return from Hampden but Bennett was at pains to add the word caveat any time a return date was raised.

It seems incredible that a 12 week job to add 600 seats that should have been ready for August 5 and a possible Champions League qualifier has over run by so much.

In the same time frame Ipswich and Luton have virtually built brand new stands to be EPL ready without having to wait months for ships to check in, perhaps those grounds don’t have issues with asbestos or crumbling concrete.

Almost no work is currently being carried out at Ibrox, with the Stadium closed for the first few months of the season the white elephant that is New Edmiston House will go unvisited while the Sports Bar due to open in January 2024 remains a pile of rubble.

On football matters Bennett made it very clear that the club is undergoing a major act of downsizing to get rid of the high earners creating an annual loss of over £10m.

With no clubs prepared to match the current deals of the serial losers it looks like even more will do as Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, John Lundstram and Borna Barisic did by hanging around for every last payment.

On Saturday at Tynecastle James Tavernier, Ben Davies, Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo are likely to be on Phil Clement’s team-sheet.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.
Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement, cheers big man.
There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same more than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying every success for Scotland's Most Successful Club.

Lol Comedy Goldson is now Joe the Toff and what a surprise it’s for an undisclosed fee oh ma sides.
Remember the shite veing pushed out there from the daily sevco that the Saudi clubs would be paying £10 million only a few weeks ago.
Now it’s an undisclosed fee,you couldn’t make that up,if they had top dollar for him they would be screaming from the rooftops, don’t be surprised if he went on a free transfer to ease the wage bill, but the manky tramps klub won’t be admitting to this.

      • SFATHENADIROFCHIFTINESS says:

Should be a canter for Elite BUT the case is being heard in Glasgow
before a Scottish Judge so you never know.
Brotherly handshakes and all that malarkey.

And still the SMSM treat and regard the little volcano as a visionary …a guy who gets things done …the no nonsense guv’na ! Well he is the boss ,yes ,so every buck stops with him ..he is ultimately responsible for all the calamities and crisis now and in the future under his dictatorship . It’s not a good look to be known as the boss of catastrophes and failure ..is it ?

  • Bob (original) says:

And whilst sevco remains without any credit facilities from a bank.

maybe Bennett will be forced to beg Lawwell for a tap…?

    🙂

    • Magua says:

The only tap big Peter will be giving Bennett, is his much cherished Huns’ tap… along with a few dodgy handshakes.

      Hail Hail.

  • John S says:

Maybe those ‘materials’ haven’t arrived because they’ve not been paid for yet.

  • the maister says:

Trying to improve facilities for disabled supporters?
Yet last season their fans destroyed their own disabled fans enclosure at Dundee by jumping up and down on top of it with their own disabled fans inside!

  • Davie says:

Give the guy a break, he said end of September, just never stated the year.

The real Rangers and now their impersonators theRangers have neglected the stadium in their pursuit of unachievable silverware.

I hope Celtic never forget where we were in the early 90s, but for the bunnet that could have been us, however the bunnet had a plan, a vision, a realistic view to financial control, Celtic gradually moved on with thanks to the one and only BUNNET
