One Ibrox fan media website is claiming that new signing Hamza Igamane is set to miss the first half of the season through injury.
A few days after the closure of Ibrox was announced the club swooped to sign the Moroccan ace with the price tag reported at between £2m and £2.5m.
It was reported that work permit issues prevented Igamane from joining his new team-mates in Holland but at the training camp Phil Clement played down expectations by claiming that the 21-year-old Moroccan was one for the future.
Since Clement’s explosive comments in Holland about the state of finances at Ibrox there has been a wall of silence from the 2012 Tribute Act, no soft interviews or clips from training showing incredible goals from Scott Wright or Todd Cantwell step-overs at Murray Park.
Nothing has been heard about the injuries to Nicky Raskin and James Tavernier, filling the void Ibrox Noise has some information on Igamane:
Rangers have been hit by yet another injury blow, with the ridiculous news that Philippe Clement was in fact apparently fibbing yet again, this time about striker Hamza Igamane.
Clement previously suggested the Moroccan forward was simply green around the ears and wasn’t ready for first-team football at the level of Rangers – a bit of a strange comment about a 21-year-old if we’re honest, hardly a baby, and signed at £2.5M.
More concerningly, sources have informed Ibrox Noise that the real story is he’s actually injured and set to miss the first half of the season.
We don’t know if this injury is new, or if medical incompetence saw him come to Rangers with it already and the docs just missed it, but either way it seems that Rangers have wasted £2.5M on a player who probably can’t be used till next year.
The above comment could be complete nonsense, Igamane could score a hat-trick and be declared as the next Alfredo Morelos with Real Madrid and Barcelona battling it out for his signature.
If the 21-year-old is crocked it leaves Cyriel Dessers and Danilo as Clement’s only striking options unless he is forced to turn to Scott Wright.
Dessers has been getting touted for a transfer since the end of last season without any takers, Danilo is on the comeback trail after picking up a serious knee injury in December.
Facing a lengthy lay-off Igamane will have additional time to learn English and pick up on the style of play as he watches his new team-mates in action at Hampden.
Clement’s other new signings are Jefte, Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron and Liam Kelly.
Stop referring to Sevco players as “aces” you f#cking weirdo
Editor: I see that the irony bypass was successful. Every player at Ibrox is an ace or a starlet.
That doesn’t mean you have to encourage it and repeat it.
