Brendan Rodgers has explained that things are bubbling away regarding bringing new players in.
Seven weeks after winning the Scottish Cup and three weeks before the SPFL opener against Kilmarnock supporters are getting concerned about the lack of transfer activity.
Since the final match of last season Joe Hart has retired with Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah returning to their loan clubs.
Next week Celtic fly out to the US for three demanding friendlies over seven days, as it stands the squad looks fairly depleted and in need of reinforcements.
Speaking to the Daily Record about transfer business he said:
We’ve had players targeted for a while. It’s still bubbling away but it’s never easy. I’m hoping we can get some in but we lost three players and they were very important players for us. We need to make that right and we also have to improve. I’m confident we’ll be able to do that.
Ideally new faces are in place for the start of pre-season training, two matches into the pre-season programme there are still no new signings with no suggestion that arrivals are imminent.
The matches against DC United, in mid-season followed by Manchester City and Chelsea should be used for bedding in new signing but it is looking more likely that they’ll prove younger players with the opportunity to prove that they are ready for the step up.
Board should get in gear. Absolute rubbish
I have been giving him the benefit of the doubt recently…but time is racing on and its now heading to an unacceptable situation…I still think that CL squad rules are causing problems…but this is not being handled properly. We are cash rich…so that’s no excuse…and to have rumours about O’Riley flying around just makes things worse…Get the finger out Celtic…before its too late.
The only gear that they will get into Johnpat is highwayman clothing…
To ROB every Celtic fan yet again !!!
More like prove to the young players what an absolute tanking feels like, world class in everything we do is lawwells comments, I rest my case m,lud
Fckn usual mince coming out. Dont like that “hopefully” statement. Looks like the con was completed again.
They won’t buy anyone until they see who they can get off the books and sell someone, it’s the same as ever, scared to spend a penny.
Celtic are the only club in the world who claim that making a signing is difficult. If the people in charge are incapable of a simple task such as signing a player then they are in the wrong job. Just more excuses not to spend any money. The exact reason I no longer spend any money on Celtic.
