James Maddison has joined many famous Celts in paying tribute to Jonny Hayes as he brought the curtain down on his playing career with an Instagram post.
Back in the summer of 2016 the teenage Norwich midfielder went on loan to Pittodrie where he discovered the physical side of the game.
Derek McInnes’ side finished second in all three competitions with Maddison cutting his loan short by returning to Carrow Road in January.
The future England midfielder did make 17 appearances for the Dons, scoring twice with Hayes among the team-mates that showed him the ropes around the SPFL.
Hayes spent three seasons at Celtic either side of two spells at Aberdeen, there was the offer of a coaching job with the Dons but he opted to return to Lennoxtown where he will work alongside Stephen McManus with the B team in the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League.
Celtic B begin their Lowland League campaign on Friday July 26 at home in Airdrie to Cumbernauld Colts.

Welcome Johnnie Hayes!
I was really surprised when Celtic signed John Hayes as he did not fit the supposed Celtic FC profile for a number of reasons.
As a player (and a Tim) he gave his all every time he donned The Hoops and was a very entertaining player with great pace, good crossing ability and also an eye for goal.
I certainly welcome John back to CP as a coach and anticipate he’ll add huge value to our younger players’ development.
I totally agree with “the maister” in this regard.
Good on you John Hayes!
Yes, thank you for that Tick Tock. Have you got any money?
OFF TOPIC…Joe…check Queens Park. / Willie Haughey statement. re Sevco at Hampden….HH
Editor: Nothing on QP website, I’d take Jackson’s version of events in the Record as being very slanted.
Found it various…GLASGOW TIMES for example…??…Looks ominous for Sevco.
Maybe he has learned something from the guys responsible for the improvement in Christie and Scales when they had spells there.
