Panic over at Ibrox as Clement picks up unexpected windfall

It seems that the financial crisis at Ibrox is about to be resolved just hours after Phil Clement revealed that he had no money left to sign players.

After weeks of spin and deflection over signing projects destined for Real Madrid or who finished last season in the bottom half of the SPFL Premiership reality hit home during an interview with Sunday newspapers in Holland.

Not only did Clement not have any money for experienced signings but the club’s finances had changed markedly since he discussed the job of replacing Micky Beale and pulling on the blazer and brogues in October.

For six months under A Proper Football Manager was on course to a Quadruple success but rather than parading the Europa League trophy around Dublin he watched his side lose twice to Celtic in May as the hoops took their trophy count to 118.

Despite the heroics of their manager there is absolutely no interest in signing the duds accumulated by Micky Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst on fat contracts that won’t be matched by any club.

Reality is staring Clement in the face but every cloud has a silver lining with a Kamara windfall heading for Ibrox.

10m euros converts to around £8.5m, once Leeds have paid their VAT on that fee they’ll be left with £6.8m to give them a profit of £1.8m.

With £180,000 heading to Ibrox that should be just about enough to cover Cyriel Dessers’ wages for five weeks following his £4m move from Cremonese last summer on a four year contract.

Dessers will be 30 in December with no update on how the progress of a move to PAOK of Greece who were reported to be in advanced talks over a transfer in mid June.

After Clement’s outburst any club considering signing any of his flops have just had it confirmed that any sort of offer is likely to be accepted- provided they can match the current wages.
