Same old- Tavernier & Co head for Dutch training camp with the Clement Revolution! on hold

Led by James Tavernier the serial losers flew out to Holland today for a training camp with not much sign of the promised summer clear out.

Five out of contracts stars led by John Lundstram and Borna Barisic left at the end of their contracts but despite plenty of wishful speculation there has been no other movement.

James Tavernier and Connor Goldson haven’t been snapped up by Al Ettifaq managed by Steven Gerrard, Todd Cantwell has been rejected by Lecce while super-sub Scott Wright hangs around for the final season of a contract that won’t be matched again.

Recently it was claimed that Cyriel Dessers was in advanced talks to join PAOK, unknown Championship clubs are being linked with Ben Davies but with pre-season training underway that duo and the others have checked in to the Dutch base for 10 days of intensive training under Phil Clement.

Spending has been light over the summer and is reported to be on hold until it is announced how long Ibrox will be closed for, since the June 20 statement there has been no follow up on either an alternative home ground or timeline for Ibrox reopening.

Some good news for Ibrox fans was the inclusion of Jack Butland in the squad despite claims that the former Crystal Palace reserve has a £21m return to the EPL lined up.
