Phil Clement’s squad will play their first two SPFL Premiership home fixtures of the season at Hampden Park.
On June 20 it was announced that Ibrox wouldn’t be available for the start of the season, more than three weeks later the SPFL have announced some venue changes.
Queens Park were at home to Livingston on August 10 but that has been switched to The City Stadium (Lesser Hampden) the previous night with a 7.45pm kick off.
Hampden was expected to be out of commission until September 5 to allow a new pitch to settle but will host the visit of Motherwell on August 10 then Ross County two weeks later.
With no updates on when Ibrox will be ready it is expected that further fixture switches are likely, the League Cup is played over the weekend of August 17/18 with Clement’s side playing in at least one Champions League qualifier during the month.
A joint statement just before 5pm announced:
The Scottish FA and SPFL have today approved Rangers FC’s request to host the club’s home matches at Hampden Park, due to ongoing works at Ibrox Stadium.
The arrangement includes the club’s home matches up to Scotland’s UEFA Nations League fixture at home to Poland on September 5 and the SPFL Board has approved Rangers playing such matches away from their own Registered Ground.
As part of the agreement, Rangers have committed to fund an accelerated pitch growth programme to ensure the Hampden surface is ready for the club’s first home game.
There is every chance that the Scotland side will be getting a sub-standard pitch on September 5 for the match against Poland with further matches in the Nations League scheduled for October and November.
Ha ha ha loving it,the SFA being shafted again by sevco, the exact same outfit that screamed from the rooftops to get Doncaster as his minions out the door at Hunden, you couldn’t make it up.
And the other 11 clubs in the SPFL and the other 30 nickel&dime teams in the lower leagues will lick every last morsel of shite they can muster up our very club will be right at top of pile to do this.
The thing is where the fuck is Dundee in all of this, they took a severe SHAFTING from sevco and the SFA/SPFL for a game being cancelled because of the weather supposedly, when said game could have been played previously on the correct date but sevco wanted longer time to recover before playing Celtic that week as well, but Dundee copped a sore one with best part of £40,000 in compo to sevco.
Just why Dundee ain’t making a song and dance about the shite sevco are getting away with I do notknow.
But someone should be chasing the SFA down and asking to see the paperwork regarding the cost of all this fucking about sevco are putting everyone through, maybe even taking the matter up with an MSP to ask for a Freedom of Information Act on it.
Otherwise sevco will continue to shite on everyone from a great height rub it in and tell the lot of them to fuck off.
Told you already Mr Scud Missile the FOI Act only applies to Public Bodies.
The SFA is a Private Ltd Company not covered by the Act.
Any MSP getting involved would just be laughed at. Just as Maxwell was pissin himself in front of the Scot Gov Committee when he poured forth all the gobbledygook about how wonderful the SFA was and most certainly didn’t need oversight by Scot Gov.
If it had come under the jurisdiction of the FOI Act they would have closed down long before now and most of the Office bearers would have done serious time at HMP Barlinie.
Lol your taking that to far, haveca chill pill, the Scud Missile guy sounds like a legend,is he living inside your head or something you constantly bring his name up.
Only for doppelgängers
“Rangers have committed “
The only thing they’re committed to is the rangers. Nothing else.
No they’re no Walter – Cos ‘Rangers’ are as deed as the do-do !
They were committed to one thing though…
Committed Suicide !!!
The homeless club are funding the pitch growth program as part of the agreement
Will we find out what that whole agreement is , I’m sure the media will be pressing them to make it clear
Just so we all know
Why can’t they play at Lesser Hampden & leave every team uninterrupted & the pitch in good order for UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE matches. By far the best option imo!
I see there is an issue with the Celtic blog just now any updates on why we can’t access it.
I noticed James Forrest the guy that has the blog was blowing a fuse or 2 yesterday with some people, just wondering if he has took a step back from it all and shut the site down.
Click on the James Forrest section under the main headings, had 2 do the same joker
Cheers Jim.
No but he did take the nip with a few posters yesterday, practically left the people commenting on his article that he put up without a name.
He is a guy that tends to take the huff if you don’t agree with him.
Your final paragraph is spot on.
