Today is the day for Celtic fans, the long wait since Hampden in the sun on May 25 is over as the double winners return to action tonight away to Ayr United.
Scott Brown will welcome his old club to Somerset Park for the opening of the North Stand, an impressive new structure taking over the old open terrace that was a real throwback to another age in football.
Looking at Celtic’s transfer ‘activity’ the Daily Record does mention that the hoops will be in action tonight but against QUEENS PARK.
Graeme Young is the reporter rounding up the news for the Record’s army of readers, any with a liking for Celtic will be well aware that the match against Queens Park is on Wednesday, at the City Stadium, formerly known as Lesser Hampden.
Stadiums have of course been trending on social media with Internet Bampots discussing the state of Ibrox and whether John Bennett can afford to relocate to Hampden or Murrayfield.
Hampden needs a pitch pronto but a cheap option could backfire with Scotland due to play Poland at the National Stadium on September 5.
If Phil Clement’s hoofball specialists are in action for a couple of matches the pitch is bound to suffer ahead of the Nations League clash.
Murrayfield will be more costly to hire and involves a 90 mile round trip from Ibrox but can cope with an extra 17,000 bears booing at James Tavernier and his team-mates.
No doubt the Record will be all over these issues with the same accuracy that they have shown for tonight’s Celtic match away to AYR UNITED.
And their probably scratching their heads wondering why circulation is falling on a daily basis , nothing to do with the crayon monkeys they have stealing a wage though.
