The snail’s pace of building work at Ibrox is continuing with some excitement caused by a lorry turning up with some steel beams.
That has been enough to convince many bears that they’ll soon be sitting in the Copland Road Stand again while speculation mounts that Hampden will be home until December of January.
Since the June 20 announcement that Ibrox won’t be ready for the start of the season there hasn’t been any follow up with either an alternative venue or likely return date.
Neil Doncaster is trying to introduce flexibility into the SPFL fixture list but five weeks before Ibrox is due to host its first home match of the season Motherwell are in the dark about where they will be playing.
The steel has arrived but it’s not that expensive, rust proof H1 steel, it looks like cheap Chinese ‘I’ beams.
We’re on overtime until it’s finished which is planned for mid October.

The virtual mainstream embargo on the story has added to the speculation that the problems are far deeper than have been disclosed.
With two UEFA matches possible during August the stakes couldn’t be higher but from the pictures leaking out of Ibrox it could be some time before European football returns to the stadium.
