Stephen McGowan has reported that Celtic and Brighton are confident of thrashing out a deal for the transfer of Matt O’Riley to the Premiership club.
Speculation about a move for the midfielder concentrated on Atalanta through last week but over the weekend they appear to have given up after a fifth failed bid short of Celtic’s asking price.
McGowan has a long track record of being exceptionally close to Celtic’s transfer activity with the exit of O’Riley now appearing a big step closer.
Last night the Daily Mail reported:
Brighton have now tendered a formal bid to Celtic — and Mail Sport understands the Premier League side are prepared to top the £25m Arsenal paid for Kieran Tierney.
Sources have indicated that O’Riley’s £25m price tag won’t be an issue and are confident that both clubs can now thrash out a deal.
If the deal goes through the spotlight will intensify on Michael Nicholson who has yet to add any outfield player to last season’s double winning squad.
It took more than nine weeks to convert Paulo Bernardo’s move to permanent status, last week, two matches into the season Adam Idah returned.
Last season O’Riley swept the board at the Celtic Player of the Year awards, finding a replacement in the last 10 days of the transfer window will be a tall order despite the huge bank balance cherished by Nicholson and the Parkhead board.

I dont trust that board one bit never especially that rat p.lawwell he was away for 2 year when big Ange came to paradise and ange got his players he wanted no problem but now p.lawwell is back the signings have stop to goalkeepers we have signed the other 2 were already at celtic on loan so its about time that board were chased and try and bring people in that wil try and get us into the CL and spend money we have millions in the bank but lawwell and Nicholson want to look after themselves the RATS get them out now money grabbing bastards our board at paradise…
Surely The experience of Mr Noonlight. With his contacts in football world. It’s about time he came up big. Quality not quantity..
Greedy Lawwell can’t help himself when he smells money & if the £25m tag is correct then O’Riley is being sold on the cheap. Tierney was worth £25m about 5yrs ago so O’Reilly is worth at least £30m now.
He is irreplaceable at the moment & should not be sold yet – his value will only increase over the next year or so.
Lawwell undermined Rodgers last time around & if he sells O’Riley now, is obviously intent on doing so again.
How on earth are Rodgers publicly stated aims of strengthening the team & doing better in Europe going to be met if Lawwell sells his top player – & at this late stage it is virtually impossible to bring in a ready-made replacement.
Rats terrible, should not be published/

Rats terrible, should not be published. They are not true Celtic supporters.
John Hail Hail
Rats know only one thing. How to live off others!
If we saw MOR leaving why couldn’t the board? Players need time to bed in, just look at Khun. As Celtic fans we are always hopeful that promises will be kept but I am seriously fed up with this bunch of charlatans who disguise themselves as Celtic Directors. Not only that but the price they expect us to pay for the CL games just rubs salt into the wounds. I for one am not buying any package this time. It will be the tele for me. No more guys! HH
It seems MATT doesn’t have his own mind because every other fckr knows better ,he,s going here,oh wait he,s going here now , I hope and believe Matt will decide he,s still wanted and happy at Celtic , the know all’s with no connections to players like to see their name out there in some way or another even it is talking pish
Lawwell’s not supposed to be involved in executive decision-making. McGowan has been a Lawwell mouthpiece for years.
Work it out! Then take action or suffer by your own apathy.
My money’s on apathy and moaning every time. We need to unify supporters and supporter/shareholders by coming together. Every Tim blog, CSC, CST etc and drive them tory bastards out of Paradise or Paradise will include a large portion of ‘hell’ for evermore.
