Brad Friedel has warned Celtic that he’d expect other European clubs to be monitoring Mateusz Bogusz.
Over the last couple of days there has been intense speculation that Celtic are waiting on the sale of Matt O’Riley to Brighton to trigger a bid for the LAFC midfielder.
Bogusz started off in Poland where he is an u-21 internationalist, failed to make the grade at Leeds and was loaned to Ibiza before finding his feet in the MLS with Los Angeles FC.
Outstanding figures for goals and assists this season has created a stir but if Celtic dither with their reported interest they could lose out on the Polish star.
Speaking to the Daily Record about Bogusz, Friedel said:
Mateusz is highly regarded in the US. Los Angeles FC have used him wisely because when he first arrived he did not play all the time and was called up sparingly from the bench. But now he is a very important part of the team and the manager Steve Cherundolo has been very clever with his development.
He is very well trained technically. He can also make a strong tackle when necessary. But what impresses me most is how he can find his way in any system that the manager imposes. I’m also curious about how his career will develop because I’m sure many clubs from Europe are monitoring him.

Friedel had a brief spell on trial with Celtic in the early nineties before enjoying a lengthy career at Blackburn and Tottenham during which he picked up over 80 caps for the USA.
After winning the Scottish Cup in May it took Celtic more than two months to convert the loan deals for Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah into permanent moves.
Since the departure of Mark Lawwell was announced at the start of March there has been no announcements about Celtic’s recruitment structure.
With the Champions League starting on September 17-19 time is at the essence, with Brendan Rodges setting a high quality threshold for new signings the chances are that there will be other clubs interested in Bogusz and other targets.
Our transfer dealings are amateurish…and embarrassing…and have been, for more years than I care to remember…So who will we sell and who will we sign..??….I don’t give a feck to be honest …It’s beyond a joke.
More self sabotage by Lawwell, clearly won’t be happy till Rodgers leaves.

Who might have an interest in this and who benefits?
Whoever it is, is no friend of Celtic.
Celtic do everything to make the £ millions. Put them in the biscuit tin. Directors get bonuses. Buy a player in order to win the UCL. Remember Gravesen, Junihno?

Whilst the club is undoubtedly highly successful at building its cash reserves,
the common complaint amongst the support is that we should be seeing more
success on the pitch: specifically some tangible ‘progress in Europe’.
The club does have a global reach and with some brand building success in
Europe, both the business and football sides could significantly grow.

every word Jim Duffy says is true. the board will sell o’riley on the very last day and it will be a loan player not to the same standard bought in. you just know that this board are not interested in doing well in europe just enough to win the league, thats it. yet them up the road have a better european record of late and some how go deep into competitions and we get out first round of games. shoe on the other foot they would bury celtic lets not kid ourselves you and i know that. fans need to stop buying shirts champions league tickets etc, the only way you get the message across is by not giving them money, look whats happened to bud light when they went woke and pissed off the customer. celtic fans need to force the hand of the board. i wouldnt be surprised if rodgers walks again, they did this to him before with mcginn.
