The Daily Record has come up with an £11m boost for Phil Clement’s transfer war-chest thanks to the sales of four serial losers.
Circulation of the Record is now comfortably below 50,000, those FACTS! aren’t unrelated.
All summer long Clement has been trying to shift the serial losers that are draining a fortune out of the club, so far only undisclosed fees have come in for the departures of Connor Goldson and Sam Lammers.
Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi have been dumped from the first team squad without attracting serious interest- according to the Record £7m is about to be banked for the kiddy-on playmakers.
With the baggage that comes with Team Hagi and the Delusions of TikTok both players come with Buyer Beware notices, not that that deters the Record as they go full on with:
Philippe Clement has already admitted he needs to sell before he can buy more. There are a number of contenders who could head for the Ibrox exit door, but that may be easier said than done, or in some cases, just not the desired outcome.
James Tavernier’s future tends to split opinion. Some fans reckon it’s time to thank him for his goals and near-decade of service and move on. Others reckon he remains a key figure and would be tough to replace. Trabzonspor and Besiktas were both interested and the consensus is that Gers could raise about £2million from moving him on.
Ianis Hagi only has. a year left so now would be the time to cash in. A £3million return to Fiorentina was claimed to be close, but it’s all gone a bit quiet. An impressive Euros won’t have harmed their chances, although reports in Italy have suggested he could be allowed to go for free, which would be a surprise.
Todd Cantwell will almost certainly move on. As to what he could fetch, then that depends. Interested clubs know Rangers have a player who doesn’t want to be there, but still has a good chunk of time left on his deal. A return to England would seem most likely and there’s money to play with there, even in the Championship. Given his situation, £3m-£4m would likely be accepted.
Scott Wright seems to be on the potential exits list every six months. Links to Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the summer looked like they might come to something, but his involvement in recent games point to him staying. Again, the £1.5m-£2m mark would probably seem realistic.
Getting those flops off the wage bill before the end of August would be some achievement, if the club can raise £3m combined in transfer fees there will be high-fiving all round in the Blue Room of unsurpassed dignity.
On Monday the Record will be disclosing the windfall from selling Ben Davies, Rabbi Matondo, Kieran Dowell and Nicky Raskin followed by the sell-on clause from taking Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves last season.
Aye Joe, and that’s on top of the £11.5mil Coco over on Ipox noise claims they got for Lammers, Goldson and a couple of others. They must be rolling in loads of money. LOL
Dear Editor…This may seem a strange post…but bear with me.
I am trainer/coach of our local Pub Team and I also sit on the Committee.
Your article prompted me to contact our Club Chairman…who won a huge sum of money on the Lottery…and this is the outcome of our conversation.
He is willing to buy Hagi for £3 million…Cantwell for £2 million…and Wright for £500:00
But will not go above these figures.
Now lest you think we are out to help Sevco…read on.
First up…and for the avoidance of doubt…None of the 5 man Committee likes Sevco.
However, we firmly believe that my training and coaching methods are far in excess of those at Auchenhowie…and we are confident that we will improve these players to such a degree…that , in no more than one season, we will sell them on for a big profit.
We would also confirm that we will not be contacting Sevco direct …but are confident that the Lurkers on your site from Govan, will take this offer back to them.
We would also confirm that the Sevco response should be posted in the Personal Column of the Woman’s Own ( my wife loves that magazine) stating their interest…or otherwise.
Given their financial situation, however, we are confident we will receive a positive response.
Thank you Editor for allowing us to make this offer.
Hahaha, brilliant mate!
Don’t forget about ‘ barn door – banjo ‘ misser Mr Dessers whose value and class and finesse , according to the Daily Record has entered the stratosphere after his ‘ tap in ‘ goal to steal a draw against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday …just like a bad dose of the ‘ trots ‘ after a dodgy Chic Murray ….he’s back !
The final word regarding The Daily Record (Daily Pathological Liar)…

Sounds like the same person who valued Morelos & Kent has been released from at stay at his majesty’s expense.
I thought clubs had learned their lesson after the Flops of Bassey, Aribo & Patterson.
Maybe not, there are quite a few Director’s who know better
