Debateable source links Celtic with two J-League signings

Marco Mollo has tweeted that Celtic are planning to make two signings from the J-League but doesn’t go any further with details.

There is a very 2022 feeling to the claim, since Ange Postecoglou left for Spurs in June 2023 Celtic’s involvement in the J-League has tailed off.

Getting three out of four starters out of Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daizen Maeda was a fantastic strike rate but since then Tomoki Iwata has been no more than a squad man with Yuki Kobayashi well short of the requirements for a Celtic central defender.

Molla is based in Japan with 45,000 followers on Twitter while only following 123 accounts, his recent tweets about Kyogo Furuhashi returning to the J-League with Urawa Red Diamonds seem wide of the mark.

With just over three weeks to go until the transfer window closes there is little sign of Celtic bringing in players of the standard required by Brendan Rodgers.

After agreeing to the arrival of seven project signings last summer it seems that the Irishman has raised the threshold for signings with the return of Paulo Bernardo the only outfield ‘addition’ to date.

Talks with Norwich over Adam Idah appear to have reached a stalemate with virtually no discussions about signing a left-back despite Greg Taylor being into the final year of his contract.

I’m not convinced by the Japanese source…far too vague. But need to repeat criticism of BR…I have no idea what he thinks his responsibilities are…but to me…he is sleeping at the wheel…to coin his own recent phrase.
Oh and having a veiled dig at a concerned support…is below the belt.

Spot on Terence Im wondering also if BR is not somehow complicit in what’s going on here with this board, the most money we’ve ever had yet we can’t get anyone to sign for us.

    • Chris says:

      Surely a hun?
Rodgers who is desperate for Celtic to get better results in Europe and knows we need a higher quality of players and how many is now asleep at the wheel.
You sound like a brain donor.

      • Terence Nova says:

You his brother..??…BR talks a lot..but how long does it take to sign a striker…WHO IS DESPERATE to join us ??..Feckin’ disgrace.

        • Chris says:

That is on the board to conclude the deals.
Rodgers has already got us Schmeichel, which came out last week.
You are targeting the wrong person.

    • John Hughes says:

When did Rodgers start signing the cheques you seem to have dislike for the manager give it a rest.

  • Charlie Green says:

From Celtic to the LSE – “In addition, it has enjoyed a successful year in generating gains from player trading.”

There is the problem in a nutshell. Success as measured by the board.
